I am certainly not someone to have all the latest gossip about everyone I know, but my friends are very important to me and I do my best to learn about them and what is going on in their lives, which is why I could barely believe it when one of my good friends told me that they were working as one of a number of senior care consultants. I actually had no idea what that meant, but I was quite interested to know more about it, so I asked him to tell me more about what it was that he did and just how he was involved with senior care.
He explained that he worked for a fantastic retirement community in the Phoenix area and that he helped the elderly people there make the change of moving to this community after having lived independently all their lives. When I mentioned that it sounded like a glorified orderly, he was very prompt to shut me down and tell me that in fact, his job was to care for the seniors in his community, not just take care of them.
He continued on to explain that while the seniors under his care had a lot of physical needs, and it was obviously an important part of his job to meet those needs, these seniors were also people with feelings and emotional and spiritual needs, which it was his job to meet. This only made sense once he explained that the community he worked at was a Christian care center that was based on highly altruistic principles.
I was certainly impressed with this idea, because I had never heard of a senior care community that had such kind and dedicated senior care consultants who really cared about the residents and worked so hard to make them as happy and comfortable as possible. I took back all of the things I said to my friend in ignorance and whole-heartedly congratulated him on doing such worthwhile work in a place where seniors can be made to feel so comfortable and appreciated.
He was happy with my interest, and offered to give me a senior living guide which would answer any questions I may have and it lays out all of the information about the programs as well as the housing that they offer in this community. Since my own parents are getting older and had been having some health issues recently, I thought this would be a fantastic place to look into for them, and I knew that it would be a place where I could feel comfortable, knowing that they would be receiving the very best care available.
