My wife has always been a very active person full of energy and ambition, so it has been very hard for me to see her growing older and losing her physical abilities to do all of the things that she loved, as well as the abilities to take care of herself, and it has been even harder for me to realize that I was not able to take care of her the way that she needed, so I decided to start looking into what options for retirement AZ has to offer. I've never been very good at looking into things like this, and it has always been hard for me to ask for help, but I knew that at this point, my wife and I truly did need some help.
I wasn't entirely certain how to go about this whole process, so I just got in the car and drove around to some of the retirement communities in the area, but it didn't take long to realize that this was not a very efficient way to go about finding a good place to live and I needed to find a better way. I've never really felt like I need the Internet for more than just checking my email and video chatting with my grandchildren, but looking on the Internet proved to be very productive.
I found a community that seemed like it would meet our needs very well, that looked like a pleasant place to live, and the reviews I read online stated that it was the best retirement AZ had to offer. Everything I saw looked fantastic, and the more I read about it, the more I became certain that it was what my wife and I needed.
Convincing my wife that she needed help beyond what I was able to give her is one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do and it brought us both to tears before I was done and we fell onto each other, crying. Yet I was successful and she reluctantly agreed that she was just not going to be able to maintain the lifestyle that she had so enjoyed up to that point in her life.
We both drove out there together to take a look at this community that next weekend and we took a tour of the grounds and facilities and talked with many members of the staff and even some of the residents, to see if this truly was the best assisted living AZ residents could take advantage of. The visit was absolutely wonderful and it put all of our reservations to rest and we both felt that it would be a great place for us to live, and we would still be in the same area so we wouldn't have to go far to visit our old friends and family members in the area.
